As Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) help increase water security and reduce disaster risk effectively and adaptively, we want to showcase opportunities to meet the investments in climate, nature, and land-neutrality targets. Supporting the Freshwater Challenge, we aim to mobilize resources and expertise to support the implementation of freshwater restoration targets and co-create solutions with indigenous people, local communities and other national and international stakeholders.

During our session, we will talk about:

• The business case for NBS for water security and disaster risk reduction (focusing on scalability, benefits and risks).
• How to scope for suitable NBS propositions
• How to close the NBS finance gap, especially in developing countries, focusing on eliminating barriers and providing scalable opportunities.
• The role of innovative (blue) finance instruments in attracting private finance for NBS, including the impact reporting indicators and guidelines currently in development for such mechanisms.
