More than 50% of the global population still lacks access to safe and affordable drinking water. SDG6.1 (“By 2030, achieve universal and equitable access to safe and affordable drinking water for all”) is far from the achievement of its ambition. The situation will undoubtedly worsen with population increase, climate change, and socio-political evolutions. It needs immediate actions, out-of-the-box innovation, and collaboration to foster impact solutions.

To reach the remote areas and the most vulnerable populations, alternative decentralized solutions exist but need support to emerge and scale up.

Since 2021, Accenture, Veolia and Danone.communities have been partnering together with an NGO/social business, 1001fontaines, to support their acceleration and scale-up. One of the key actions was focused on upgrading the current water kiosk in Cambodia to make it more efficient, more resilient, more ergonomic, and carbon neutral.

This “kiosk 2.0” project involved start-ups, local authorities and other corporate supports and was supported by the French Treasury Department thanks to a FASEP grant. It is a great example of innovative approaches that Corporates can leverage to take a greater role in population access to safe and affordable water.

The session organized by Veolia and Accenture will showcase this specific example of an action-driven partnership to identify the key success factors to scale such initiatives and discuss how corporates can extend their impact through innovative approaches.

Agenda :

  • 1st Roundtable: How corporates can play a new role and bring innovative approaches to address SDG 6.1 “full access to safe and affordable water” in 2030
  • Presentation of the “Kiosk 2.0 partnership” : the 1001fontaines kiosk 2.0, the multi-stakeholder partnership, the FASEP support
  • 2nd Roundtable: How to accelerate these kind of multi-stakeholder partnerships: the key success factors to accelerate these innovative approaches from Corporates ?
