The nonprofit World Water Film Festival (WWFF) will launch its inaugural event on March 19th, hosted by the Columbia Climate School’s Water Center. Taking place across three floors at The Forum at Columbia University (601 W 125th St, New York, NY 10027) from 9:00 a.m. – 7 p.m., WWFF will showcase a variety of 70 short and feature films made by water advocates from around the world, featuring workshops, guest speakers, and a special “Women in Water Energy & Film” summit.
Free-to-the-public with no RSVP necessary, the Atrium “ground-floor level” will be set up museum style with:
- A photo exhibit by the Dutch Government’s ‘Water as Leverage’ program featuring ‘water as the solution’ photographs from Asia and Columbia. Guests will learn about the United Nations Strategic Development Goal number 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation for All.
- A “Water Advocacy & Community Theater” featuring short films about groundwater, fair water footprints, stories about “too little, too much & too polluted” and inspiring stories of people making a difference!
- A “Creativity, Animation and Kids Theater” featuring experimental & gorgeously artistic interpretations of water, stories for, by and about youth, and a very cool animation block with shorts from all over the world!
The Water Environment Federation will have kids books about water, and a special demo of their new video game, ‘Water 2050’ https://youtu.be/6UNtPvYp8a8 - There will also be interactive kiosks to learn more about water for kids, adults…the whole family!
Our ‘Main Theater’ second-floor attraction is by RSVP with suggested donation – with films curated to amplify the work being feature at the UN Water Conference. Programs include “Resilient Cities & Countries/Resilient Citizens”, “Youth Advocacy and Empowerment”, “Water Crises and Solutions” and “Women in Water, Energy and Film”.
Side events and workshops on the third-floor are by RSVP with suggested donation and include “Focus Lens” on Latin America and Israel, and three workshops “Women in Water, Energy and Film”, “Filmmaker Masterclass – how to break into the Educational Distribution Network” and “The Power of Storytelling – How to Influence Policy and Change”.
