Central Park Bike Tour with the Global Water Community
25th March at 10.30am, Central Park (Columbus Circle entrance)
Can cycling help us tackle the global water crisis? Bikes can inspire new ways of valuing water and sustaining river cultures. As the global water community converges on New York this March for the largest UN water meeting in decades, join Water Cycles Expeditions for a bike ride in Central Park on March 25th at 10.30am. Bring your bike, or rent one, to ride in a group across Central Park, finishing with the launch of a new social media campaign seeking to build a global network of water cyclists – and citizen scientists – exploring rivers, lakes, and hidden waters by bike. Riders will also get a chance to learn about the connection between Central Park and New York’s water supply during a pivotal period for the city’s development. Group rides will last 30, 60, or 90 minutes, and riders can select their option during registration or on the day.
About Water Cycles Expeditions
Water Cycles Expeditions is a social enterprise and bike touring company that seeks to reconnect people and water through cycling. There are approximately 2 billion bikes in the world, and we believe this represents a latent force for understanding and tackling the global water crisis. This year we are planning a series of events to build a network of cyclists and citizen scientists passionate about exploring the hidden connections between people and water that become visible from the bike. Our aim is to build a global network of community hubs that support local bike tours and train water citizen scientists who work on projects that build and benefit communities seeking to manage local and global water challenges.
